Nami saved two puppies in June 2019 just before they were shut down. It was back in 2013 and 2014 that Nami lived in Busan and worked with two international orgs, Animals Asia and CFAF to shutdown Gupo Market. We tried very hard to find an alternative livelihood for the butchers/dog meat vendors with a specific product to replace the live dogs on display.  After a year and half, the chief of livestock market came up with an offer a “Commercial Building” for exchange of compensation worth $300M. Nami then gave up and came to Seoul. However, the seeds were planted then. The City of Busan and National Fund came up with the amount and offered to build the building and two years of free rent to those 18 vendors/butchers. The agreement was signed by both parties, mayor of Busan and Park Young Soon, the chief of livestock market representing all the vendors. The agreement of shut down is valid for two years.

Nami went back to Busan to have a meeting with the district office and save two puppies named Gu and Po.
