We are always looking for FLIGHT VOLUNTEERS!

Traveling from Seoul, South Korea, to the US or Canada? You can be a flight volunteer! Please email us at Flightvolunteer@savekoreandogs.org

For direct flights from Seoul (ICN) to an airport in the US or Canada, you can fly with 1 to 3 dogs as “extra baggage”. The savings for using flight volunteers versus “cargo freight” is a lot. SKD pays the extra baggage fees for the dogs (you pay if its your own dog) and we take care of everything for you. You don’t have to pay anything or worry about anything!

You may also sponsor a dog’s freedom flight:

The standard extra baggage fee is $300 per dog with a total weight of less than 32kg dog and crate.
The standard extra baggage fee is $600 per dog with a total weight of 32kg up to 45kg dog and crate.

Most airlines allow a passenger to fly with up to 3 dogs (with an exception of Air Canada, which allows only 1 dog). Small dogs may fly in a soft carrier in the cabin with you, while up to 2 dogs in crates may fly in the climate controlled cargo hold.

Korean Air – Three dogs (one in the cabin and two in animal compartment of the airplane).
Asiana Airlines – Three dogs (one in the cabin and two in animal compartment of the airplane).
Air Canada – One dog is allowed. Must be Flight# AC064
Singapore Airlines – Only those with weight below 32 kg are allowed.
United Airlines – Priority is given to the active duty military families/ members based in Korea. However, a small crate less than 8 kg can be brought to cabin and placed under your seat.

When you agree to be a flight volunteer, we need some time to look for a foster or forever home at your destination to receive the dog(s). These arrangements may take a few weeks to coordinate so we will be in touch with you during the process. We’ll let you know who will be meeting you at your destination to pick up the dogs. And if no adopters or fosters are available we’ll also let you know.

Once you’ve booked your flight, go ahead and call the airline directly and book the space in the live animal compartment for the maximum allowed dogs. (It doesn’t cost anything to reserve the space). When calling the airline you will typically need the following:

Below is the specification of our dogs for you to secure the animal compartment it does not need to be specific.

Breed: Jindo Mix

Weight: Normal weight is in the range of 15 kg – 20 kg ( 18 kg is safe)

Age: 1 year old

Number of dogs per flight volunteer age: maximum two dogs are allowed to check in with ONE flight volunteer, sometimes a small size dogs weight less than7 kg can be allowed to the cabin.

04. *For about 25 kg above to 30 kg (Total weight of the crate and the dog is average 30 kg)

Height 68 cm X Width 63 cm X Length 91 cm

What we need in advance:

Your full name, address, cell phone number and email address.
Copy of your passport for the quarantine inspection and the US Customs and Border Protection entry (CBP). (No crossed out, cut off, or covered up info).
Your airline ticket itinerary with flight number, date and time of departure and arrival.

On your day of departure we transport the dogs to the airport (Seoul/ICN):

Our animal transporter handles the procedure at the airport quarantine office.

At your destination:

As your plane nears its destination be sure to check “live animal” on the customs form. The dogs will be brought out to you on a cart near the baggage claim or luggage carousel. Present all requested paperwork as you clear customs. YOU MUST HAND OVER THE PAPERS, US ENTRY PERMIT TO A CUSTOMS OFFICER.

Normally dogs are found at the baggage claim, if not please go to the customs and show them the US entry permit we handed over to you.

The foster/adopter will meet you at the exit to pick up the dog(s)

탑승객 봉사자 여러분께,

동물구조 입양단체 세이브코리언독스에서 출국하시는 분들에게 ‘해외 이동 봉사자’를 모집합니다. 소위 육견이라 불리는 우리 구조견들은 크기도 크고 국내 입양이 어렵습니다. 출국하실 때 먼 길 같이 동행하여 좋은 가족을 맞아 행복하게 살 수 있도록 함께 하여 주십시요. *승객 한 분 당 큰 개는 두 마리, 작은 개는 기내로 들어갈 수 있습니다만 보통 수하물로 2 마리 보내고 있습니다.

인천 공항에서 탑승 수속은 저희 대표나 직원이 직접 동행하며 체크인 수속하실 때 강아지도 같이 체크인하시면 됩니다.

*모든 출국에 들어가는 검역비, 초과수하물 비용은 저희가 모두 부담합니다. 이렇게 탑승객과 갈 때 $300불 (총 무게 32 키로 이하) 은 우리가 수하물 비용으로 지불하게 됩니다. 그러니 많은 절약이 됩니다. 먼저 항공사에 전화로 예약하셔서 동물칸 자리를 확보해야 하는데 보통 비행기표 사본을 주시면 우리가 대신 동물칸 예약합니다. 항공사 직원이 질문을 하면 대체로 보내는 아이들 크기가 비슷하기때문에 같은 정보를 드리면 됩니다.

만약 여권 사본을 먼저 주실 수 있다면 우리가 가이 바행하는 개의 검역을 받고 당일 항공사 카운터에서 만나서 같이 체크인합니다.

보통 출발 시간 3시간 전에 공항에서 만납니다. 체크인하실 때 약간의 시간만 내주시면 되고 경험많은 저희 직원이 다 알아서 합니다.

도착:

목적지 공항 도착후 짐 찾는 곳 Baggage Claim 으로 가시면 보통 거기로 개가 나와있습니다. 이때 짐찾는곳 주변에 서계신 세관원에게 우리가 드린 동물미국입국허가서를 건네주십시요. 그러면 나중에 세관에서 시스템에 입력을 합니다. (서류 건네드리는 건 반드시 해주세요)

짐 찾은후 포터를 불러 출구로 나가 달라할때 필요한 포터 비용 20 불은 저희가 따로 드립니다. 짐을 다 찾으신 후 포터를 불러 카트를 밀어 달라 부탁하시고 같이 출구로 나가시면 입양자나 픽업하는 분들이 출구 밖에서 기다릴 겁니다. 그 때 케이지를 넘겨드리면서 사진 한 장 찍어주시면 감사하겠습니다.
